Using Sound to Cure Wounds
In an effort to save soldiers lives in Iraq, the military is funding two competing research groups to investigate the use of ultrasound to stop internal bleeding.
Ultrasound is useful because on a low power setting it can be used to detect an internal injury, then the power can be cranked up to cauterize the wound internally.
